How you can help Alive UK provide a Coronation hamper for Norfolk families
News: 20 April 2023
Back to newsWe have collaborated with Alive UK, a charity which aims to give emergency support to people in crisis in Norfolk, to give local families in need a Coronation treat.
Alive UK is asking people to donate tea, biscuits, jam, scones and fruit cake for hampers that will be delivered to families in crisis in Norfolk, so that they can feel part of the celebrations for the Coronation of King Charles III. Donations can be placed in the Alive unit at Chantry Place on the lower ground floor next to Sports Direct before Monday 1st May 2023.
Bunting, flags, ribbon and decorations have also been requested to decorate Alive Church before the Coronation so that those using the foodbank and having breakfast on Friday 5th May can enjoy the atmosphere and celebrations.
Chantry Place is supporting the appeal and providing donations for the hampers. Paul McCarthy, general manager of Chantry Place, comments: “Part of the Coronation celebrations include The Big Help Out to support local communities, so we wanted to work with Alive UK on this appeal to help families right here in Norfolk. We are donating items and are speaking to our retailers to see if they can support the appeal, as the aim is to put together 40 hampers, which will each feed a family of four to five people. Our visitors have been amazing with past appeals we have worked with Alive on, including a Christmas toys and treats and an Easter egg appeal.”
As part of its coronation celebrations, we will be returning to Chantry Palace. From Saturday 22nd April until Monday 8th May 2023, visitors of the Centre will be able to walk the red carpet and sit on a throne for a royal photo opportunity. There will also be a display of magnificent crowns decorated by students from five local schools. These will line the walkway between H&M and Phase Eight, Hobbs and Whistles on the upper ground floor.
