On Saturday 28th October, our HMV store is proud to host Norfolk based band, Mama Oh No, to showcase their debut album “Mamasaurus”.

Excitingly, Mama Oh No has recently signed to HMV’s label, 1921 Records Imprint, and was actually discovered in Norwich following a performance in our HMV store, and a nationwide search for new talent to sign to the label. The band were selected from over 70 acts that were nominated.

The show, that kicks off at 3pm, is bound to be a good one!

Their record has been influenced by the sounds of both soul and surf, resulting in a unique space-age sound reminiscent of early experimental electronic music.

Mama Oh No is a four-piece British and Danish “fuzzy R&B and soul band”. They formed in 2019 and have been described as having a “dark, haunting and cinematic sound filled with raw, emotive bluesy vocals” by Kitty Perrin of BBC Introducing.

Jack Blair, Mama Oh No said: “It’s crazy to comprehend that a gig in a store could lead to this. We’re over the moon to be signed to 1921 Records, a label with the might of HMV ehind it. It’s going to be a special moment seeing our vinyl on the shelves.”

Their debut album is available now for pre-order at hmv.com and in all HMV and FOPP stores.

Our HMV store can be found on the lower ground floor, next to Frasers. To keep up to date with all things Chantry Place, follow us on socials @chantryplacenorwich or visit our events page www.chantryplace.co.uk/events
