We are rebranding to Chantry Palace for the Coronation of King Charles III and have enlisted the help of Norfolk schools to help decorate the Centre.

Students from Free School Norwich, The Hamlet Centre, Magdalen Gates Primary, Lionwood Nursery and Primary, and Fairhaven C.E.V.A Primary School have each decorated a giant crown, which will be on display at Chantry Place from Saturday 22nd April until Monday 8th May. The crowns will line the walkway between H&M and Phase Eight, Hobbs and Whistles on the upper ground floor.

We caught up with Paul McCarthy, our general manager, who comments: “The crowns that the students have decorated look brilliant with so much creativity, colour, texture and personality on each one. The eye-catching display is a fantastic way for us to help celebrate the coronation and we hope the students will bring their family and friends to see them on display. Visitors can also have their photo taken on our royal throne on the lower ground floor, by Langleys, from Saturday 22nd April.”

Chloe Demeuzois, Assistant Headteacher at Magdalen Gates Primary School, said: “The children really enjoyed decorating the giant crown to celebrate the King’s Coronation. They decided to represent our school through a pencil design, just like our school railings, and then added mini self-portraits where the jewels would be. The children thought carefully about the colours to use and went for a very royal purple and gold! They can’t wait to come and see it on display at Chantry Place.”

Hannah Tough, Adult Services Activity Coordinator and Support Worker at the Hamlet Centre, commented: “At The Hamlet Charity we support young adults 18-30 to fulfil their creative potential and decorating the crown for the display has been an incredible opportunity for them to show off their skills! We decorated ours in the Hamlet colours and covered it in sensory decorations chosen by our students and it really reflects what we do and how creative our folks are. After a month of hard work, we are really proud of the contributions each individual has made and can’t wait for other people to see it!”
