At Chantry Place, we’re proud to lead the way in Norwich with a commitment to doing better for people and the planet, while delivering a fantastic shopping experience.

Our Power, Our Planet

This year’s Earth Month theme, Our Power, Our Planet, reminds us that we all have the power to protect and preserve our shared home. At Chantry Place, we support this mission through continued investment in sustainable practices across the centre.

Since 2023, our food waste has been processed at a local anaerobic digestion plant, turning scraps into renewable energy and fertiliser for local farms. On top of that, our coffee grounds recycling initiative sees over 2.1 tonnes collected each year by visitors.

In 2024, we collected 749 tonnes of waste from our retailers and caterers. Thanks to their support, we sorted this waste into multiple streams, including cardboard, soft plastics, organic waste, metal, batteries, light bulbs, wood, pallets, WEEE and cooking oil. That meant 42% was recycled, with the remaining waste incinerated to generate energy.

We’ve also made significant strides in energy use – reducing electricity consumption by 69% since 2007 – and today, we’ve achieved zero Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions, with our sights set firmly on zero Scope 1 emissions by 2030.

Charge while you shop

Looking to stay charged while you shop sustainably? We’ve partnered with Zest to increase the number of EV charging points to eight, located on Car Park Level -2, Row 24.

Using them is simple: connect to our free WiFi, scan the QR code next to the socket, and use the Zest app to begin charging. Whether you’re popping in for lunch or enjoying a longer shopping trip, our EV facilities are designed to work around you.

Download the Zest app for a seamless charging experience on your next visit.

Safe, accessible and sustainable parking

We take pride in offering an award-winning parking experience. Our car park holds the Safer Parking Award thanks to excellent lighting, surveillance, and cleanliness and an Award of Excellence from Park Access, recognising our commitment to accessibility. With over 1,000 spaces, including 43 disabled bays and 73 parent-and-child spaces, it’s easy and convenient for everyone to visit.
