On October 25th Chantry Place will be supporting National PoTS Awareness Day by lighting Merchant’s Hall up in purple. National PoTS Awareness Day is where organisations and landmarks are encouraged to light up in purple to help spread awareness.

PoTS or Postural Tachycardia Syndrome is when your heart rate increases very quickly after getting up from sitting up or lying down. PoTS affects everyone differently and for some, symptoms can be mild and manageable, whereas for others it is severe and disabling.

Raising awareness of PoTS is becoming increasingly more important now more than ever, as it is estimated to affect 0.2% of the population. It is a condition that is often misdiagnosed with the average time to receive a diagnosis from the onset of symptoms being 7 years.
